Chicken prices rose to 46 thousand SYP per kilogram of breed broiler in recent days and during the month of Ramadan in Deir Ezzor, according to a local reporter of the DeirEzzor24 network.
According to our reporter, this increase came as a result of the Fourth Division practices at its manned checkpoints. For instance, they are stopping chicken trucks coming to the province at their checkposts, forcing their drivers to pay expensive fees and stealing a chicken cage from each truck. This illegal action has increased the costs of the merchants who, in turn, must raise the prices of chickens to compensate for their losses at the division’s checkpoints.
Chicken prices have also increased in SDF-held areas in Deir Ezzor, and local activists have been organizing a boycott campaign for chickens until their prices are reduced.
