The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Deir Ezzor Governorate has intensified its inspection campaigns in markets and shops since the beginning of Ramadan, with the aim of controlling prices, ensuring food safety, and protecting citizens from exploitation.
The Directorate explained that consumer protection and food safety patrols carried out 51 inspection tours covering the city of Deir Ezzor and its countryside, to monitor the movement of markets in light of the increasing demand for purchasing Ramadan supplies.
These tours resulted in the curbs of 93 food violations, ranging from price, technical and health violations. The necessary seizures were organized against the violators in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
The Directorate also closed 12 facilities with red wax, including poultry farms and chicken shops, due to monopoly and selling at excessive prices without legal justification, stressing the continuation of its monitoring campaigns throughout the month of Ramadan to control markets and protect consumers.
