Some SDF and Iraqi army officials held yesterday a meeting during which they agreed on forming a joint coordination center for ensuring safety on Syria/Iraq border in areas situated in Deir Ezzor province.
The SDF released a statement yesterday indicating that the meeting was attended by the general commander of the Iraqi Jazzera Forces ‘Qassem Mohamed Saleh’ and his assistant ‘ General Abdul Hussein’, in addition to the general commanders of the Jazzeah Storm Operation ‘Hassan Qamishlo’ and ‘Inkizik Khalil’. The statement clarified that the among the discussed issues were border security protection in Deir Ezzor and how to obliterate the presence of Daesh in the area.
The Jazzerah Strom Operation, which was launched by the SDF last month, has enabled the SDF to gain control over vast swaths of lands north and east of Deir Ezzor, including strategic areas such as the biggest oil fields in Syria.
