Well-informed sources emphasized to the Deir Ezzor 24 Network that the 5th Corps of the Russian 1st Division broke an agreement with 1,000 new recruits from the Deir Ezzor governorate. The corps sent the fighters to back the al-Nimr militia on the advanced frontlines in the Hama governorate.

The sources added that when they joined the corps, the recruits demanded that they serve in the Deir Ezzor governorate in return for $200 per month.

The recruits rejected sending them to the al-Nimr militia and insisted on not fighting on the frontlines. Most of the recruits are wanted for reserve duty, which makes them vulnerable to prosecution by the Assad regime’s Military Security branch.
