Both Daesh and SDF reached a prisoner swap deal on Wednesday in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The deal came after negotiations between representatives from both parties that lasted for several days.
The activist Abdul Rahman Khudr said to D24 that, ‘ 20 SDF and 20 Daesh fighters were released following the prisoner exchange deal’ and ‘ among the released were Hussam Kamil Omar, a fighter of the Barq Shaitat Forces battalion, which is linked to DEMC, and Dalshir Al Haskawi, a YPJ commander.’
The released SDF personnel were transported to Al Hasakah province while those of Daesh were relocated to the organization controlled areas in the towns of Ash-Shaafah and Al-Sussah in eastern Deir Ezzor.
According to sources, both parties have agreed to do more prisoner swap deals in the upcoming days.
It should be pointed out that the situation at the frontlines between SDF and Daesh has been on a stalemate.
