People crowd at remittances offices in the city of Deir Ezzor due to security measures the Assad regime’s security services impose.
Over the recent days, people crowded at the al-Haram and al*-Foad remittances centers, as recipients of remittances have to wait for a long time or register their names and return in the evening to receive the remittance.
The Assad regime prevents other remittances offices from opening under the pretext of manipulating the exchanging rates. The Assad regime intelligences obtain lists of remittances senders and recipients on a daily basis. This procedure bothers the residents and terrorizes them, especially after the Assad forces arrested people a few hours after they received their remittances under the pretext of investigating them for receiving a lot of money.
Most of the families in the Assad regime-controlled areas majorly depend on remittances from abroad due to deteriorated economic conditions in the area.
