DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
Recently, large oil slicks appeared in the Euphrates River, accompanied by complaints from residents and farmers about the presence of a taste of diesel in drinking and irrigation water, according to the correspondent of DeirEzzor24 Network.
He said that it was found that this pollution in the water is a result of the leakage of petroleum materials from the bottles, barrels and plastic pipes smuggled between the areas controlled by the SDF and the Assad regime in Deir Ezzor across the Euphrates River.
A worker in the field of oil smuggling of the Fourth Division told DeirEzzor24 Network that many of the plastic containers and barrels are not sealed, and some of them are completely poured into the water when these containers are collected with ropes, floated and dragged by boats to the Division’s points, which predicts an environmental disaster for the population and agricultural crops, especially vegetables.
Fuel smuggling operations are widespread, between the areas controlled by the SDF and the Assad regime in Deir Ezzor, on a large scale, especially after the fuel crisis ravaging the areas controlled by the Assad regime in Deir Ezzor and Syria in general.
