A private source told DeirEzzor24 network that a group of officials of the Assad regime and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards militia in Deir Ezzor seized agricultural lands east of Deir Ezzor through unofficial methods.

The source added that the governor of Deir Ezzor, “Fadil al-Najjar”, along with Major General “Mahmoud Bilal, the provincial police chief” and both Haj “Askar” and Haj “Malik”, the two leaders in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards militia, seized land in the sixth square in the town of Al-Mariya, southeast of Deir Ezzor airport, after cleaning it. He pointed out that the group is seeking to invest the land and cultivate it with wheat and extend an earthen canal to it by irrigating the third sector that irrigates the area all the way to the town of Buqrs.

He stressed that this land has been eroded for nearly 10 years and belongs to the state and not private property.

A number of pilgrims of the IRGC and the Baath Party and its security branches, in addition to well-known personalities from the province’s merchants, seized hundreds of hectares of lands from the people of the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, under the pretext that they are wanted by the Assad regime.
