The Iranian militias located in the city of Deir Ezzor have established five new checkpoints on the “Homs-Deir Ezzor” road, with the aim of securing and escorting the Iranian convoys and protecting the movements of pilgrims.
These moves come as part of Iran’s recent efforts to consolidate its influence throughout the Deir Ezzor countryside, as the “Palmyra-Deir Ezzor” road is considered the most targeted by ISIS cells, as it has points affiliated with both the Russian and Iranian militias, and the Iranian militias are located in the desert of Homs, in collusion with the Russian militias.
