Families from Raqqa in Deir Ezzor Face Poverty and Need

Dozens of families displaced from Raqqa and Tabqa to Deir Ezzor are going through deteriorating living conditions and a severe shortage of logistical assistance recently, according to DeirEzzor24 Network.

Our reporter said that these families live in neighborhoods considered semi-destroyed in Deir Ezzor city (Al-Ummal and Al-Hamidiyah) because local residents have given them some homes. Some chose these neighborhoods because of the low rents compared to other residential neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor.

In an exclusive interview with DeirEzzor24, members of these families confirmed that the Red Crescent had distributed only food aid two months ago and promised them logistical assistance, including tarpaulins to cover damaged homes, blankets, and sponges, as well as some household supplies.

Our reporter added that some Deir Ezzor residents have assisted the displaced (household appliances, and semi-free homes, some of which are currently free).

Some charitable people are collecting donations, purchasing food supplies, and distributing them to these families, in addition to distributing them to widows and orphans from Deir ez-Zor.

He noted that these families were displaced from Raqqa due to their fear of arrest for participating in the celebrations marking the formation of the new Syrian government and its agreement with the SDF. Some of these families were also displaced due to their former affiliation with the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

The families were forced to flee due to the arrests carried out by the SDF in Raqqa, targeting young men who participated in the celebrations and raised the Syrian flag, in addition to the arrest of former members who had served in the ranks of the Free Syrian Army at the beginning of the Syrian revolution.
