Dozens of families have recently returned to the Al-Ardi neighborhood in the city of Deir Ezzor, amid an almost complete absence of basic services foremost among them, drinking water.
These families are currently suffering from a lack of usable water, forcing them to rely on water tanks scattered throughout the neighborhood and along the main street as their only source to meet daily needs.
“Dozens of families have recently returned from cities such as Hasakah and Raqqa, as well as from some northern camps, and have begun restoring their homes in preparation for resettlement,” said Malek al-Abdullah, one of the neighborhood’s residents, to DeirEzzor24.
He added that “a number of families have already started the process of repairing their homes with the goal of permanently returning to the neighborhood.”
Residents of Al-Ardi neighborhood have called on the relevant authorities to expedite the delivery of drinking water to the area, and to remove the rubble scattered across various parts of the neighborhood, in order to encourage more families to return and resume their lives there.
