This morning, members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) carried out a campaign targeting smugglers between Assad regime areas and the SDF areas, and between Syria and Iraq in al-Bukamal city and its countryside.

Members of the 47th Regiment supported the IRGC in its campaign, which resulted in the arrest of four smugglers known to be working for members of the IRGC and Hashd Al-Shaabi, who facilitate their work.

Smugglers are active in the areas controlled by Assad regime in Deir Ezzor. Militias colluding with the IRGC and other Iranian militias deployed in the region smuggle fuel, food and livestock, and take advantage of people’s needs through favoritism, taking bribes and imposing taxes.
