A group of Deir Ezzor media activists have launched a social media campaign to shed light on the suffering of civilians who fled Daesh-held territory of Deir Ezzor, and are now facing intimidation and harassment by a number of FSA military factions operating in northern Syria.
The activists stated that Deir Ezzor civilians who managed to flee Daesh-controlled areas in the province are now experiencing arbitrary arrests, intimidation and harassment when passing through the FSA check posts in northern Syria. Many of them have been detained under trumped-up charges of being affiliated with Daesh.
This incident comes in conjunction with a sharp increase in the number of civilians fleeing Daesh-held territory of Deir Ezzor, as they continue to face human rights abuses at the hands of the group. The organization has recently attempted to prevent any civilian from leaving the province for northern Syria, even if his or her destination would be Raqqa, in an attempt to curb the massive wave of civilian displacement that followed the takeover of Manbej by SDF.
In other news, the Assad-regime has denied access to civilians fleeing Daesh-held areas to its controlled neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor, coinciding with SDF stopping them from entering either Hasakah or Qamishli if they do not provide a surety.
