The workshops of the Albukamal City Council in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have begun implementing the first phase of the work of removing encroachments on the public road in Al-Fayhaa Square, with the aim of reducing random occupations and opening the road to the movement of citizens and vehicles.

This step comes in light of the random spread of stalls and vendors inside the square and the surrounding roads, which has led to the occupation of large areas and obstructed the movement of pedestrians and cars, amid residents’ dissatisfaction with the continuation of this phenomenon and the daily difficulties it causes.

Residents confirm that the effects of encroachments are not limited to obstructing the movement of shoppers only, but may also hinder ambulances and emergency vehicles from reaching emergency cases in a timely manner, which requires finding practical and sustainable solutions to regulate occupancy.

Residents hope that these measures will contribute to reorganizing the square and improving the flow of movement, while allocating suitable places for vendors that allow them to continue their work and preserve their sources of livelihood, in a way that achieves a balance between the public interest, the rights of stall owners, and the safety of citizens.
