Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent said that the priest “Hoseib Abraham Beidoyan” and his father “Hanna Ibrahim Beido” were killed by gunmen this morning, Monday, in Deir Ezzor province.

Hours after the incident, Daesh claimed responsibility for the killing of the priest and his father in a statement it posted on its platforms on social media.

The priest, Hoseib Abraham, from Qamishli city in Hasakeh governorate, is the pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church “Mar Yousef” in Qamishli. He was in his car with his father and two people on their way to Deir Ezzor province on a mission for the church when they were attacked, according to statements by people close to the priest.

It is indicated that Daesh cells are active in the areas of Deir Ezzor that are controlled by the international coalition and the SDF (east of the Euphrates), and these cells carry out killings and kidnappings, but are met with successive security operations by the international coalition and the SDF.
