Today, Wednesday 31-7-2019, two civilians were killed by a landmine from the remnants of war between Daesh and the Assad’s forces in the western Deir Ezzor countryside.

According to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent, a mine exploded this morning, Wednesday, in al-Jia’ village in the western Deir Ezzor countryside, killing two civilians: “Dahham Lattouf Al-Shihan and Safwan Rajab al-Saleh”

The mines remain a major frightening threat to the people of Deir Ezzor province, who still suffer from frequent explosions of mines and IEDs from the remnants of war among Daesh, the Assad’s forces, and the SDF, as well as the explosion of cars and motorcycles bombs that result in the deaths and injuries of people most of them are civilians. Daesh has claimed responsibility for some of the bombings, but most of them have been registered against unknown perpetrators.

The removal of the mines is a major challenge that hinders the return of Deir Ezzor’s people to their homes, especially that these mines explode on contact, and are therefore prohibited under international law.
