The residents of Al-Masrab, located in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor (al-Shamiyah), are suffering from the widespread presence of war remnants around the town, amid calls for their removal and relocation to designated areas.
The area is littered with remnants of war, including artillery shells and rockets left behind by the former regime, which targeted the region before taking control of it. These remnants remain in place to this day.
According to locals, the Al-Masrab desert is witnessing a wide spread of landmines, in addition to unexploded ordnance.
Residents of the area, through the “DeirEzzor24” network, have called for a comprehensive landmine survey in Al-Masrab desert, as well as the removal of war remnants from its surroundings, which pose a significant danger to shepherds and farmland owners.
