At the beginning of summer, the price of a block of ice in the city of Albukamal reached 35,000 Syrian pounds, according to a DeirEzzor24 network local reporter.
Our local reporter said that there are two factories in Al-Bukamal belonging to the Iranian-backed militias in the villages of Al-Suwayya and Al-Sukkariyah.
He added that, during the past years, the militias prevented the opening of any ice production factory in the region, to monopolize its trade.
In their own factory, the Iranian-backed militias use unclean water to make ice, and residents noticed the presence of mud and dust in the ice molds, which led to the spread of stomach and intestinal diseases and urinary tract infections.
