DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
With the closure of the river crossings linking the Assad regime-controlled areas with the SDF-controlled areas in the Deir Ezzor countryside, the Iranian-backed militias became the biggest beneficiaries, since they are now flooding the Assad regime’s markets with Iranian goods and food products.
Iranian goods enter through the Iraqi border and are not subject to any customs duties. No checkpoint, regardless of affiliation, can impose any royalty on those goods, as they are coming through leaders of Iranian-backed militias.
Most of the goods available in the markets today are Iranian, and it is rare to find other goods, whether from China or those smuggled from Turkey.
The majority of shop owners expressed their fears about Iranian goods because most of them do not comply with health conditions.
