ISIS has reportedly executed a poet from Deir Ezzor known as Mohamed Bashir Ahmed Diyab al-Ani after he was detained and imprisoned for seven months in an ISIS-run prison in Deir Ezzor, according to private sources that told one of the relatives of the poet in the province.

The group had arrested the poet along with his son after they fled hell in the besieged areas of Deir Ezzor and headed towards west Deir Ezzor countryside, where more than 100 civilians were arrested at the time. He had also lived in Raqqa before he travelled along with his wife to Damascus so that she can receive treatment at one of the hospitals in the city, however, she passed away and he had to return to bury her in the besieged areas of Deir Ezzor.
