The 11-years-old child “Hamzah” appeared in the Daesh’s release titled “He Revived Me with His Blood” in which he was filmed executing a civilian with a pistol on charges of cooperation with the YPG. The child is from the Bughayliyah neighborhood. His father is named “Fawzi Hussein”, also known as “Abu Amar Al-Bughayliyah”. He is a high-ranking Daesh commander who had operated in the countryside of Hasakah before being eliminated in a Collation’s air strike.
The family of the child pledged allegiance to Daesh in early years of their presence in Deir Ezzor. The father of the child formed the Abu Bakr Sidiq Battalion, which was linked with the Murabitine Brigade, and then they pledged support to the organization after the latter managed to gain control over large areas in the province.
The battalion filmed a video of their fighters sniping down Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor and then they gave it to the organization who released it in one of their propaganda videos. Abu Amar forced many of his fighters to accompany him in the filming of the video which was published under the name “ The Sniper of Wilyat Al-Khayr”
The child is now living with his uncle after the death of his father. It should be pointed out that his uncle was also among the first to pledge allegiance to the organization.
Children in Deir Ezzor continue to be subjected to indoctrination and brainwashing into the extremist ideology of the organization which revolves around the shedding of blood and terror. This means that an entire generation in the province is vulnerable to radicalisation.
