The people of Al-Hasakah Governorate called on the Central Bank of Syria to extend the deadline for replacing the old currency, as the specified deadline approaches its expiration, stressing that the limited number of replacement centers in the governorate hinders the completion of the process within the announced time period.
A number of residents explained that the old currency still represents more than 90% of the liquidity circulating in the markets, at a time when some money changers are exploiting citizens’ needs by imposing high commissions or adopting large differences in the dollar exchange rates between the old and new currency.
They pointed out that the refusal of some gas stations to receive old currency increased the difficulty of daily transactions, causing additional burdens on citizens.
The residents called on the Central Bank of Syria to extend the replacement period until approved and sufficient centers are opened within the governorate, ensuring easy currency exchange without incurring additional losses or financial burdens for citizens.
