The Minister of Energy, Engineer Muhammad Al-Bashir, opened the Olouk water station in the Ras Al-Ain countryside, north of Al-Hasakah Governorate, in the presence of the Governor of Al-Hasakah, Engineer Nour Al-Din Ahmed, the Director of Political Affairs, Abbas Hussein, members of the presidential delegation, the Director of the Al-Hasakah Water Corporation, Farhan Al-Owais, and a number of members of the People’s Assembly representing the governorate, marking the beginning of Re-feeding the city of Al-Hasakah and its countryside with drinking water.

The station officially entered service after completing rehabilitation and maintenance work, following a seven-year hiatus. In the first phase, it will operate through 19 wells out of 34 wells, to provide drinking water to the city of Hasakah and its countryside, in addition to the Al-Hawl district. The rehabilitation and operation of the remaining wells will be completed successively within the subsequent phases.

It is expected that resuming pumping will contribute to regular access to safe and clean drinking water for citizens, and gradually restore service to the beneficiary areas in Al-Hasakah Governorate after years of interruption.

Olouk Station is one of the most prominent vital water facilities in Syria, as it provides drinking water to the city of Hasakah and its countryside, the city of Tal Tamr and its countryside, and the Al-Hawl area, and approximately 500,000 people benefit from its services.
