Yesterday, the Russian engineering battalion closed a secret crossing linking Assad’s and SDF-controlled areas, as Fifth Corps officers use it to smuggle diesel and some materials via handcarts.
The closed crossing links the town of Al-Tabia, an island in the areas controlled by the Assad regime, and the town of Jadid Okaidat, which is within the areas of SDF control.
The closure of the crossing comes against the backdrop of recent events in Ghweran prison in Hasakah, as both sides fear Daesh infiltration into the area.
The Jadid Bakara crossing is witnessing an activity in smuggling fuel oil and foodstuffs towards al-Assad’s areas. It is a two-meter-wide and 75-meter-long crossing.
