Mohammed Jamil al-Hamid, a civilian from Al-Quriyah city in Deir Ezzor province, was arrested and beaten by elements of the military police in Jarabulus city in the northern Aleppo countryside, activists from Deir Ezzor living in Jarabulus posted on social media.
As for the reason for the arrest, activists said that while the young man was walking at night using his mobile phone’s light, he was arrested by the guards, who took him to one of the military police headquarters on charges of “photographing headquarters”, to which the young man replied that he was using his mobile phone’s light because he can’t see well at night, but the police officers beat him and punched him on his eyes.
After interrogating “Al-Hamid” and searching his cell phone, the elements found that he had not filmed any video, so the police released him after he had been abused.
It is noteworthy that the military police and some factions of the national army in northern Aleppo have attacked and abused people from Deir Ezzor many times without being held accountable or pressured to end these attacks against displaced people from Deir Ezzor.
