The Chamber of Commerce in Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with civil society organizations, organized a festival under the slogan “Back to School,” coinciding with the upcoming start of the school year. The festival was held in the sports hall building in the city of Deir Ezzor.
The event saw a large turnout of children and their families and included a variety of activities that created an atmosphere of fun and engagement. These included theatrical performances with educational messages and entertaining competitions that delighted the children. Additionally, school supplies were offered at discounted prices compared to market rates, providing many families with the opportunity to purchase school essentials at affordable prices.
In an exclusive interview with Adnan Al-Dakhil, head of the Trade Office in Deir Ezzor Governorate, he told DeirEzzor24 that the festival is held annually before the start of each school year. However, this year’s edition was distinctive, with a unique character, as many local associations, organizations, and volunteer teams were involved to raise public awareness about the dangers of war remnants present in some areas. Al-Dakhil noted that these activities aimed to provide community support and environmental awareness for children and their families.
On the commercial front, the festival also offered an opportunity for merchants to showcase their products at competitive prices, helping families with limited income to access their school needs more easily. Attendees welcomed this approach, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives that combine entertainment and benefit, while also supporting local community efforts to overcome economic challenges.
Officials from the Chamber of Commerce stressed the importance of continuing to organize such events, which contribute to strengthening community ties and providing needed support to families in Deir Ezzor. They indicated that the festival will become a tradition as part of preparations for the school year in the coming years.
