The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Deir Ezzor has seized nearly 6.5 tons of rotten bananas during inspection tours carried out in the city’s markets.
The bananas were being sold at low prices in an attempt to dispose of them, in spite of not meeting consumption standards.
The directorate confirmed that the necessary legal measures were taken against the violators, noting that these inspection tours are part of its efforts to protect consumer health and ensure the safety of food products available in the markets.
The directorate stressed that it will continue to intensify oversight of various commercial activities and will take strict action against anyone who endangers public health or offers unfit products for consumption.
