DeirEzzor24 network observed members of the Fourth Division as they were placing burning tires on the roofs of abandoned houses in the cities and towns of Deir Ezzor under the control of the Assad regime, and burning them from the inside, with the aim of facilitating the process of extracting iron from the roofs of buildings using heavy iron hammers without the need for “compresses” which need electricity and motor fuel in order to operate them.
The Fourth Division of the Assad regime carries out looting and theft operations, in addition to extorting and harassing the people, imposing customs duties on their goods and collecting royalties in return for their passage through its checkpoints, which is a practice that has been going on for years of rampant corruption in Assad’s security and administrative agencies.
