The Khabur River in Al-Hasakah Governorate recorded a noticeable rise in its water level, which contributed to the return of flow to parts of its course, amid the hopes of residents and farmers that these developments will be positively reflected in the water and agricultural status in the region.

The Khabur River is an important water source in Hasakah Governorate, as large areas of agricultural land depend on it for irrigation, especially for growing winter crops and vegetables, making improved water flow an important factor in supporting agricultural activity.

It is expected that the rise in river level, if it continues, will contribute to enhancing local water resources, helping to feed some nearby wells and waterways, as well as relatively alleviating the repercussions of the droughts that the region witnessed during the recent period.

In this context, calls are increasing to monitor the condition of the river, maintain the cleanliness of its course, prevent the dumping of waste or the implementation of encroachments that may hinder the flow of water, in addition to organizing the use of its resources in a way that ensures their fair distribution and contributes to meeting the needs of the largest possible number of agricultural areas.

Residents and farmers are pinning their hopes on the continued improvement of the water situation, given its importance in supporting the agricultural season and enhancing water security in the region.
