A private source told DeirEzzor24 that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia has planted sleeper cells in the SDF-controlled areas of Deir Ezzor.
The source added that the militia recruited cell members through its agents in the region and through militia commanders, including the commander of the tribal brigade, Sheikh “Nawaf al-Bashir,” the sheikh of the Baggara tribe, who is forming sectarian groups with clan names in the towns of Muhaimidah, al-Jeneina, Hawaij Thiab, and the rest of the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.
The militia is also operating cells in each of the towns of Al-Hawaij and Dhiban, east of Deir Ezzor, through the commander of the Al-Akidat Shield militia, “Hashem Masoud Al-Sattam.”
He pointed out that the secret recruitment came in coordination with the security branches in Deir Ezzor, which are responsible for issuing security cards for those cells, while the Revolutionary Guard militia bears the wages of the members of those cells.
The tasks of these cells are monitoring, military monitoring, carrying out assassinations, planting explosive devices, and creating chaos by spreading clan strife in the SDF region.
