Resuming mine and explosive clearance work in the Tal Abyad countryside

Under the direction of Raqqa Governor Abdul Rahman Salama, and in cooperation between the Tal Abyad area and the Military Engineering Department of the Ministry of Defense, mine and explosive clearance operations have resumed in the Tal Abyad countryside, with the aim of securing residential and agricultural areas and preparing them for safe use.

Tal Abyad District Director Saad Fares said that military engineering teams work within two sectors; The first starts from Tal Tamr, passing through the international road and reaching Tal Abyad, while the second sector extends in the western countryside of Tal Abyad towards the border with Aleppo.

Fares explained that mine clearance work resumed four days ago, after stopping during the period of agricultural crops, noting that the teams began removing mines from homes and residential areas, and have now reached advanced areas within the work plan.

He added that the next phase will include removing mines from agricultural lands, using heavy machinery, with the aim of securing them and allowing them to be used again, which will contribute to enhancing safety and supporting the return of agricultural activity in the region.
