A Quarrel erupted between the Assad forces’ 4th and 17th divisions members at the al-Bal’oom checkpoint in the city of al-Mayadeen. The quarrel erupted on the background of the 4th Division members confiscating food cans belonging to the 17th Division.
The quarrel lasted an hour amidst blocking traffic movement; however, it ended with the 17 Division inability to reclaim the cans. The checkpoint is a major source of making money for the 4th Division in Deir Ezzor.
Assad forces’ members continue to exploit checkpoints to extort civilians and confiscate their goods in return for money.
