Hundreds of displaced civilians from the eastern region are going through appalling conditions after they were denied entry to Damascus by Assad forces. They are left helpless in the open without any shelter in light of an unendurable heat wave that has recently hit Syria.

They are currently stranded in the area of Batma, 50 km far from the city of Al-Dumair. Among them are a large number of children and women as well as a number of patients in need of urgent medical treatment in the capital.

Their situation has worsened due to a high increase in temperature and severe shortage of food and drinking water.

The displaced civilians from the eastern region have been denied entry to Damascus by Assad forces under the pretext that they would form Daesh sleeper cells in the capital if they were allowed to enter.
