Harvesting of agricultural crops in Al-Hasakah Governorate continues at an accelerated pace, amid expectations of achieving good production during the current season, supported by improved climatic conditions and the expansion of cultivated areas in various districts of the governorate.
Assistant Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ezz El-Din Jassim Al-Hasso, explained that the harvested areas of irrigated wheat amounted to 22,550 hectares, while the harvested area of rain-fed wheat reached 46,500 hectares.
He added that the harvested barley areas amounted to 18,400 hectares of irrigated land and 204,700 hectares of rain-fed, while the harvested lentils amounted to 1,800 hectares of irrigated land and 13,200 hectares of rain-fed.
Al-Hasso pointed out that the quantities of wheat marketed to receiving centers have so far reached about 42 thousand tons, with supply operations continuing by farmers, as part of efforts aimed at supporting food security and enhancing the income of families working in the agricultural sector
