The DeirEzzor24 network monitored the presence of more than 20 checkpoints along the Al-Bukamal-Deir Ezzor road, east of the province, some of which are operated by the Fourth Division of Assad’s forces, and others belong to Iranian militias.
According to our reporter, the mission of these checkpoints is to extort and impose royalties, by stopping passers-by, private cars, buses, and commercial vehicles, for several hours under the pretext of searching for prohibited materials, to be allowed to pass once royalties are paid to the officers.
Such checkpoints are among the reasons that led to the rise in the prices of goods and commodities in Deir Ezzor.
