Since the Russian military intervention at the request of the Assad regime, which proved its most horrific tyranny, abuse and murder against the Syrian people, Russia has sought to support the regime to crack down on any peaceful movement against corruption in Syria. Furthermore, Russia did not hesitate to employ all possible weapons during the war against the armed opposition. Reality on the ground proved that the Russians are the last one who take the lives of civilians seriously during any military activity. Thus, they have perpetrated numerous appaling crimes.
In their military operations, the Russians did not take into account the lives of the local civilians . According to both Assad and Russia, the opposition has mass support in the areas they control. Therefore, in the eyes of Russia and Assad, the local populations deserve the same fate as that of the military factions. Russia adopted a carpet-bombing strategy in its war against the opposition. For instance, some areas which were taken over by the Assad forces were nothing but areas of rubber and destroyed buildings.
Hundreds of violations against civilians in the military operations led by the Russian forces have been documented, in addition to the Russians’ indifference to the killing of civilians, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and urbanization and others in exchange for achieving what Russia claims of military victory.
While Russia is militarily active in Syria through air warplanes and providing military training and advice to the regime, it does not hesitate to engage in dirty operations in favor of the regime by killing and abusing all outposts and areas outside the control of the Assad regime.
Not only that, but Russia has resorted to bringing in mercenary forces to provide combat services on the ground. They directly contributed to the killing and destruction of opposition areas. During the battles against Daesh, the Russian forces and the auxiliary forces did not hesitate to kill civilians as well without the slightest attempt to save them .
But that is not all. In January 2022, a farmer in Al-Baghouz, east of Deir Ezzor, noticed what he believed was an unexploded missile. He alerted the local security forces, which, in cooperation with specialized teams from the International Coalition, extracted that missile from the ground. The coalition was informed and they announced that it was a Russian RBK-500 cluster bomb, weighing 500 kilograms, and it had been there since 2015. he Russians have long denied the use of cluster bombs in Syria. This is further evidence that Russia is lying about the use of cluster bombs in Syria at the beginning and in Ukraine now.
The Russian military activity demonstrates that the military victory of the Russians is more important than the violations during the battles. To this day, the Russians continue to practice all the misleading narrations on the world that they are right and that the other narrations are false, but the evidence on the ground proves day after day the extent of the crime they perpetrated and are still practicing against the peoples of the region.
