A group of volunteer teams launched a field campaign under the slogan “Deir Ezzor is More Beautiful.” With support from the Deir Ezzor Social Affairs Directorate, the campaign aims to remove traces and aspects of the former regime from the main streets and give the city a civilized look.

The campaign included extensive cleaning work and painting sidewalks and road islands, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and belonging among the city’s youth. Volunteer efforts focused on several vital areas, from the Dallah Roundabout to the Salama Roundabout, and the University Presidency Road to the Unknown Soldier Roundabout.

In a statement to DeirEzzor24, Ali al-Saleh, a volunteer with the “Kafo” team and one of the campaign participants, explained that this initiative came in direct coordination with the Social Affairs Directorate and aims to improve the city’s overall appearance and remove everything that reminds residents of the era of the former regime, which left its traces on the streets and facilities.

These grassroots initiatives reflect the desire of the people to open a new page of hope and construction, as the people of Deir Ezzor strive, with all their capabilities. Self-help, to bring life back to their city, and to affirm their determination to overcome the war-torn past and move towards a brighter future.
