A severe thunderstorm that struck Deir Ezzor province last night caused significant damage to several power lines at the radio station substation, leading to some lines going out of service and cutting power to several areas.
According to the General Electricity Company, seven power lines sustained direct failures due to the intensity of the storm, resulting in partial or total outages. Technical teams managed to repair six of the lines and restore them to operation by morning.
The company explained that the Hamidiyah line is still out of service, as attempts to activate it cause the Taim gas turbines to shut down due to the load created by the fault. This issue requires precise handling before the line can be restored.
The General Electricity Company confirmed that its crews have been continuing maintenance operations since this morning, aiming to complete the repair of the damaged line and restore stability to the electrical network as soon as possible.
