Assad’s forces have always deliberately targeted the mosques in Syria because of their valuable position in the heart of the Syrian people. Their criminality and barbarity surpassed that witnessed during the French colonialism.

D24 documented the destruction of more than ten mosques by Assad and the Russian aircraft in September 2017. The names of the destroyed mosques are as follows:

  1. The Othman Bno Afan Mosque in the village of Al Sabha which was destroyed on 04 September 2017.
  2. The Iman mosque in the Sabhah village which was destroyed on 04 September 217.
  3. The Mullah Wardi mosque which was destroyed on 05 September 2017.
  4. The Othman Bno Afan mosque in the Buqruss Tahtani mosque which was destroyed on 07 September 2017.
  5. The Buaawad mosque in the Quriyah city which was destroyed on 10 September 2017.
  6. The Ikhlass mosque in the Quriyah city which was destroyed on 12 September 2017.
  7. The Farih mosque in the Jalaa town in eastern Deir Ezzor which was destroyed on 17 September 2017.
  8. The Fath in Al Qusour neighbourhood which was destroyed on 23 September 201.
  9. The Rahman mosque in Al Bukamal city which was destroyed on 01 October 2017.
  10. The Taas mosque in the Sabikhan town which was destroyed on 01 October 2017.
  11. The Omar Bno Khatab mosque in the Ayfan neighbourhood of Al Asharah which was destroyed on 01 October 2017.

Despite their historical significance for the Syrian people, the mosques were destroyed by the Assad’s forces.
