The quantities of wheat received in Al-Hasakah Governorate since the beginning of the marketing season amounted to about one million and 150 thousand tons, in light of the Syrian Grains Corporation continuing receiving, transportation and storage operations, despite the logistical challenges resulting from a large part of the silos being filled with the remaining stock from last season.
The director of the Syrian Grains Corporation branch in Qamishli, Abdul Hamid Daoud, explained that the quantities received include about 400,000 tons of first-class wheat, which reflects the quality of an important segment of the current season’s production.
Daoud added that the corporation has so far transported about 350,000 tons of wheat to a number of governorates, most notably Damascus and Aleppo, with the aim of strengthening the strategic stock and securing the needs of those areas.
He pointed out that the storage capacity of Al-Hasakah silos amounts to about one million and 200 thousand tons, but the presence of approximately 560 thousand tons stored from last season reduced the available capacities to receive the new crop, which poses challenges to continuing receiving and storage processes during the current season.
