For the third day in a row, it has been raining steadily in the province of Deir Ezzor which has resulted in the flooding of many agricultural lands.

A D24 correspondent reported that,’ The wave of heavy rainfall has been ongoing for three days now, which has caused the flooding of dozens of hectares of the agricultural lands located in the countryside of Deir Ezzor”

He added, ‘ This wave of rain that has hit Deir Ezzor is considered the biggest level of rain the province has ever seen in the recent years.”

An engineer of agriculture, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed to D24 that, ‘the heavy rain has destroyed dozens of hectares of the agricultural lands in the province. Wheat and barley corps have been destroyed. However, it has positively raised the level of the Euphrates River whose water level had decreased after Euphrates Dam was knocked out of service.”

The water level of the Euphrates River has been diminishing on a large-scale after Euphrates Dam was rendered out of service due to the ongoing military operations and Coalition airstrikes in its vicinity, which also continue to prevent maintenance teams from entering and fixing malfunctions in the dam.
