Areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir EzzorGovernorate witnessed a widespread strike by bakery owners, protesting the deteriorating service conditions related to the provision of essential materials for operating the bakeries.
According to local sources, the reason for the strike is the poor quality of flour provided by the Autonomous Administration, which directly impacted the quality of bread produced. This was in addition to the poor quality of diesel fuel allocated to operate the mills, which exacerbated the suffering of residents and bakery owners alike.
A number of bakery owners pointed out the high price of a bag of flour distributed by the SDF, reaching levels similar to those offered on the black market. This burdens them and threatens the continuity of their work in light of the deteriorating economic conditions in the region.
