A group of activists from the Syrian Opposition has launched on social media a hashtag in Arabic language titled “ #‏لسنا_وحدنا”, which translate into “we are not alone”, in solidarity and support of stranded civilians living currently in Deir Ezzor province.

A number of Deir Ezzor’s activists have also accused some political and media parties affiliated with the Syrian Opposition of marginalizing and overlooking the gloomy and deteriorating situation in the province over the past five years.

The hashtag calls on, as described by the activists themselves, the defiant Syrian people to stand by the helpless civilians in Deir Ezzor, as they are caught between two types of occupation and siege. It also asks the people of Deir Ezzor and its military factions to unite under one umbrella to liberate their province from both Assad and Daesh.

This hashtag comes in light of the second anniversary of the fall of Deir Ezzor into the hands of Daesh, which occurred after heavy fighting with the FSA that lasted for several months in which both parties took thousands of casualties.

Ten thousands of civilians living in the Assad-regime held areas in Deir Ezzor are going through tough and deplorable conditions due to an inhumane and pitiless siege, which has been imposed by Daesh for more than a year and half now. With respect to the situation of civilians in Daesh-held territory of Deir Ezzor, they have been repetitively targeted by both Russian and Assad indiscriminatory air strikes. There is also an increase in food prices and life has stopped because of Daesh’s barbarous and bestial practices, which have led many to leave the province for Turkey in particular.
