DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:

The areas of Maizila and Ezbet are located north of Deir Ezzor, and include a number of rural communities located within agricultural areas irrigated by artesian and rain-fed wells, which depend on rain, such as Ezbet, Azman, and Kasha”.

These areas, which are under SDF control, have been the backbone of the demonstrations against the Assad regime, rejecting the Iranian presence in the region, denouncing the policies of the SDF and the corruption of its local and civil councils, and calling for administrative reform, the equitable distribution of allowances, the abolition of forced conscription, and the targeting of licensed international organizations operating in the region.

The demonstrations of the people in the area are characterized by raising the revolution’s flag, burning the flags of sectarian militias, and pictures of “Qassem Soleimani.” The demonstrators block roads with tires and weapons in the face of Russian patrols and the tanks of the “Qaterji” militia.
The location of Maizila and Ezbet is of great strategic i
mportance, as it is in the middle of the northern and western countryside, in addition to the presence of the American base “Koniko Field”, and its extension on the Kharafi Road that connects it to Hasaka, in addition to the presence of most of the civil departments of the SDF in the area of Al-Ma’amal and the Ezbet market.

The importance of the region also lies in the presence of thousands of displaced people who were displaced from their towns and cities, by the Russian and Iranian militias, from the villages east of the six Euphrates, extending from Al-Tabia “Jazira” in the east to “Al-Husayniyah” in the west.

Recently, a demonstration, the largest of its kind, was launched in Maizila, to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of the Syrian revolution, in conjunction with the turnout of some young men from Deir Ezzor, in response to the promoters of reconciliations, settlements, local councils, and applicants for affiliation with the offices of the Russian and Iranian militias.
