A special source told DeirEzzor24 network that the 4th Division of Assad’s forces assigned the leader of the National Defense Militia, “Hassan Ghadban”, with the task of managing river smuggling operations within the eastern sector of Deir Ezzor, extending from the city of Mohassan to the city of Al-Mayadin.
The source added that the assignment of “Al-Ghadban” by the Fourth Division came after the National Defense Militia was dissolved in Deir Ezzor, and its members were distributed among the Fourth Division and 17th Infantry Division.
Smuggling operations in the aforementioned area have witnessed a great recovery in recent times due to the drop in the prices of materials in the SDF-controlled areas after stopping the implementation of Caesar’s Law.
The Fourth Division manages the smuggling of goods and fuels from the SDF-controlled areas to the Assad regime-controlled areas in Deir Ezzor, including (diesel, gasoline, flour, sugar, tea, detergents, medicines, hookah coal and clothing) and enters in the opposite direction (fertilizer, cement, iron and smoke).
