, Syria A visiting team from the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) has completed more than 60 surgical procedures at the National Hospital in Deir Ezzor, in a mission aimed at both treating patients and strengthening local healthcare capacities.
The team of 13 doctors carried out surgeries across a range of specialties, including 30 gastrointestinal endoscopies, according to Dr. Youssef Al-Sattam, the province’s director of health.
In addition to clinical work, the delegation hosted a training workshop for medical staff from the Deir Ezzor National Hospital and other local institutions. The sessions focused on skill development and professional exchange in a region still grappling with years of conflict and infrastructure strain.
The visiting physicians also conducted a thorough assessment of the province’s health system, identifying critical gaps and immediate needs to bolster medical services in the area.
