Russians reject Iranian militias’ entering western Deir Ezzor countryside

The General Igor , the representative of the commander of the Russian forces in east of the Euphrates, rejected a request by sheikh Nawaf al-Basheer to allow 800 fighters of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) militias to enter the western Deir Ezzor countryside controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Russians rejected the request despite al-Basheer’s promising to prevent any military actions. Al-Basheer asserted that the residents of the area welcome the militias’ entering, especially as he is a dignitary of the al-Baqara tribe that forms the majority of the residents of the area.

al-Basheer submitted the request at the Russian Reconciliation Center in Hattla. The Russians justified the rejection by the Americans’ unaccepting of the Iranian militias’ entering the area, amidst joint patrols in the major lines of the area.
