The technical services department in Deir Ezzor has begun implementing the reconstruction project for the “Ain Al-Boujamaa Bridge” in the western countryside of the province, after receiving the worksite from the Central Roads Directorate. This initiative is part of the “Deir Al-Izz” campaign, which aims to improve infrastructure, enhance public services, and support reconstruction efforts.
According to a reporter from DeirEzzor24 Network, the project is being funded by a donation from Golden Safety Company, owned by Suleiman Al-Haj Ali, with an estimated cost of around $250,000. The project is expected to take 60 days to complete and involves a specialized team of engineers and surveyors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Technical Services Directorate explained that the work is being carried out in cooperation with engineering teams from the Syrian Army’s 66th Division. The crews have started by removing the damaged parts of the bridge in preparation for its restoration. The bridge had previously been destroyed, forcing locals to use an alternative dirt road.
This alternative route, known locally as the “diversion,” has led to numerous accidents since the beginning of this year, resulting in the deaths of more than 20 people and injuring dozens more. This has sparked widespread dissatisfaction among residents, who have repeatedly called for the bridge to be rehabilitated.
The “Ain Al-Boujamaa Bridge” is considered a vital connection linking villages and towns in the western Deir Ezzor countryside to facilitate economic and services in thé area.
