The maintenance workshops of the Water Resources Directorate in Deir Ezzor continue to carry out rehabilitation and maintenance work on the Euphrates water suction project towards Al Sowar area, where they completed molding a number of concrete slabs into the trapezoidal canal at kilometers 6 and 11 within the low sites in the canal body, after temporarily stopping pumping to allow for the implementation of the necessary technical work.
These works come within the framework of maintaining the safety of the project’s infrastructure and treating the damaged areas, ensuring the continuity of the canal’s operation and raising its efficiency in transporting water and delivering it safely and regularly to the beneficiary areas.
Maintenance work is of great importance given that a number of drinking water stations in neighboring villages rely on the canal as a source of raw water, as the water is transported to purification stations before being pumped to residents, which contributes to securing their water needs and ensuring the sustainability of drinking water services.
In a related context, the Ministry of Energy announced that the General Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater in Deir Ezzor today returned five water stations to service at full operational capacity, as part of a plan aimed at restoring the operation of the stations whose equipment was dismantled as a precaution during the period of rising Euphrates River levels for fear of being damaged.
The stations that returned to work included Al-Shmitiya station in the western countryside, and the modernized Al-Tiana station in the eastern countryside, in addition to Al-Shafah (Al-Soor) and Al-Keshma stations, and Ashayer station in the eastern countryside, after creating the appropriate conditions and reassembling the necessary technical equipment.
These measures are expected to contribute to enhancing the stability of the water system and improving the level of services provided to residents in various areas of the governorate.
