Photo of the extremely detailed conditions on the re-opening of internet salons
ISIS has allowed the re-opening of internet salons in west Deir Ezzor countryside based on stark conditions clarified in a statement, which the group has recently issued and distributed to civilians in villages that lay in the western countryside.
In the statement, ISIS allows civilians to open internet salons on condition that they must be consisted of two separate rooms, one for men and the other for women. Among the other conditions is preventing the use of WIFI outside of the internet salons. The owners of internet salons are also obliged to register the names of all their customers, and not allowed to let women in after Ishaa’ prayer.
On the other hand, ISIS closed a while ago several internet salons in the western countryside. Sometimes under the pretext, that it is a time of war against the regime, and sometimes due to the group being afraid of spies transmitting info and spying on behalf of the regime.
In general, ISIS has tightened its security measures on internet salons in the western countryside, as it is the only means that keeps civilians in Deir Ezzor in contact with their families living abroad. The internet salons have witnessed several and repetitious ISIS raids so far, during which the group inspect civilians’ phones, arrest some of them, and sometimes execute them under unfounded charges.
ISIS executed a teenager in Al-Soura town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor a little while ago. He was executed after a group of ISIS members raided an internet salon and arrested the teenager while he was speaking to his uncle, who lives in the KRG, Iraq and has the Kurdistan’s flag on his profile picture.
It should be noted that the group had closed all internet cafes for several months before in the province of Deir Ezzor and now it has issued orders to re-open them again, however, on very extremely detailed conditions. It has also given approvals to some of its close members to control the owners of internet salons in the province.
